Adventure Travel Inspiration and How to Find It

All travellers know the feeling, “I want to travel, I want to experience new things and I want to do something completely different to what I am doing now.” The corresponding feeling is usually along the lines of, “But what? Where? And how?”

This is actually made harder with the vast selection of trips currently available, especially to adventure travellers. Below are three ways to make inspiration a little easier for those of you reading with travel on your mind.

Travel Reviews

One of the best ways to find adventure travel inspiration is by reading about other peoples’ experiences. This is easily done by looking at travel reviews. These travel reviews provide an insight, not only into the service and value of adventure travel providers, but also the experiences that people have had. Adventurers are drawn to places of interest, especially ones that not many have been. Never underestimate an adventure traveller’s need for that feeling of exploration.

Travel reviews also provide inspiration through density. For example, the crowds may congregate in Kenya for a Safari or in Peru to hike Machu Picchu, both areas would then receive a high number of reviews. With this knowledge, an adventure traveller can easily pick his or her ideal experience, based on how crowded they want their trip to be.

Adventure News

Read adventure news and updates. One of the most useful sources of inspiration comes from adventure travel industry news. Details of current adventure vacation offers, new destinations available and new activities to try will really get your imagination going. It’s also helpful when you’re on a tight budget – discovering new adventures on your doorstep is the latest travel trend.

How do you find the best deals in the market? Just keep a watchful eye on the best adventure news. Finding fresh adventures is one of the fundamental reasons that the adventure travel market continues to grow (even in spite of economic/political challenges). Travellers are always on the lookout for the next destination or activity and one of the most fruitful sources for inspiration is blogs from explorers and adventures on the cutting edge. New routes through jungles, new epic cycle journeys or a new way to use a helicopter to launch your adventure, these blogs have the answers.

Adventure Travel Market Overview

Finally, finding inspiration can be a simple as looking at the adventure travel market as a whole – what can I do and where?

This might be browsing through an atlas and pointing at the topographic point of interest or looking at a list of adventures on a provider’s site. An easier option still is to utilize some of the powerful adventure travel search sites out there. Simply click on an activity or country and see where or what you can do.

Taking Adventure Travel to New Heights!

It is said that it’s difficult to find anyone who is not interested in traveling! Many people also find great pleasure in “Adventure Travel.” Adventure travel is a trip that provides an unusual and exciting experience to the vacationer seeking that never to be forgotten vacation adventure. There are a great many kinds of experiences that fall under this category of travel and we have taken our role in the fascinating world of adventure travels very seriously.

A Little History on Adventure Travel Rentals. A Travel Aggregator is a company that makes a mission out of introducing the American vacationer to all this world has to offer for a fun-filled vacation of heart stopping adventure travel. By building a reputation on not only offering the traveler rentals like RV’s, Snowmobiles and Jet Skies, but showing the adventure traveler the many options on where to go and how to turn their adventure vacation into a memorable one. As a long-time adventure traveler, I once envisioned the opportunity to help people throughout the US plan and execute that vacation by matching up the adventure traveler with a person who has all of the adventure “toys” to complete the vacation. Thousands of people have vacation “toys” just sitting around their house, gathering dust but we have solved that problem by showing Americans how to rent out their idle toys from the comforts of their home and even more importantly making money on an adventure toy that would otherwise sit unused. A traveler planning a trip to Yosemite during the winter may look to rent a rustic mountain cabin as well as a snowmobile to explore the vast trails and natural scenery. We can facilitate this entire process.

It’s a wild wonderful world! Follow your heart and let the adventure begin. Repelling down the mountains of Arches National Park in Utah for some extreme camping, thrill seekers hiking the Bruce Trail in Bruce Peninsula National Park, or white water rafting in the Grand Canyon are all adventure vacations that are heart stopping yet they are also the type of vacations that make you feel young again! Because, after all, aren’t we all trying to stop the march of time? At least that’s what it feels like to be an adventure traveler, time has stood still while you gaze at and experience the very best America has to offer.

America’s 58 national parks are the jewels of the country. Escaping to a safe and peaceful wilderness setting has wide appeal for families seeking a stress-free vacation with a little or allot of adventure. Reserve a spot at one of the thousands of campgrounds in America, and you’ll not only have a memorable time sleeping under the stars but you may come back a few years younger.

Try going off the beaten path to see the untamed vistas of Mount Moran in Wyoming’s Grand Tetons, the fourth highest peak in the Tetons or the deep forests and majestic trees of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan. Surely, a sight never-to-be-forgotten.

RV Travel is not what it used to be. In 2010, the RV turned 100 years old. Three prominent RV historians, renowned RV collector David Woodworth, RV/Motor Home Hall of Fame and Museum archivist Al Hesselbart, and Smithsonian Institution curator Roger White have cited 1910 as the start of the RV industry. Today some 82 million households now own RV’s according to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. In 1936, Airstream came out with the Clipper, and America’s adoration of this particular RV brand took shape. In 1952, RV manufacturers started to realize the marketing benefits of a whole home on wheels. RVs and trailers started to get bigger, and bigger… and bigger. RV travel has become the way families come together in an economical and flexible way to see this beautiful country for their family vacations. Whether they travel in a small trailer RV or a luxury RV Motorhome there is no denying it’s one of the best ways to travel and see the countryside.

RV camping opportunities abound with more than 16,000 RV parks, campgrounds and resorts on America’s public and private lands. Some of the most beautiful places in North America can be reached by RV’s and the destinations are well worth the drive! How about, Mt. Desert Narrows Camping Resort, in Bar Harbor, Maine. This RV Camping Resort is known as the only national park in New England. The Leisure Resort on the San Marcos River in Texas offers full hook-up RV sites, a fenced pet park for Fido as well as pet-friendly trails, and a scenic riverfront. The Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina is in Big Pine Key, Florida just some 38 miles from Key West. In the mood for a spa or golf vacation? Try The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort Titusville, FL. This park is for the big guys, only 18′ ft and longer are allowed. No pop-ups or tents allowed! Sam’s Family Spa Hot Water Resort was built in 1971 on over 50 acres of selected desert property with underground hot mineral water springs. It is an RV park with all amenities to reserve in America.

RV’s have pumped in a new enthusiasm for this kind of camping. Luxury RV’s like the Bounder Diesel have it all: a spacious floor plan with triple slide-outs, an impressive galley, comfy furnishings, four beds, and lots of storage. Its finishing touches include detailed molding and contemporary light fixtures making the RV feel like a home. Or is “Green” Rving more your thing? Try the first eco-friendly RV, the Ever-Lite by EverGreen, built with all composite, wood-free outside wall construction and all the design characteristics of an eco-friendly home.

Today, people purchase or rent RVs with thoughts and dreams of going on adventures, exploring the country, and building lasting memories with family and friends. Camping in an RV at one of the many nation’s parks, forests and campgrounds is perfect for experiencing nature up close with all the conveniences of home.

How to Pursue a Dream of Adventure

Are you craving adventure but haven’t been able to take those first steps? If so it is time to get inspired. Having an adventure is about letting life take you where it wants to while fully enjoying the ride. The fact that you never know what you will find or where you will go is what makes an adventure so rewarding – you get to utilize your full arsenal of skills and traits every day.

The pursuit of adventure has led to some of the most epic discoveries in our history. People like Christopher Columbus and Marco Polo traversed vast distances to explore the unknown. To some, adventure is a way of life. So how do you make adventure part of your life?

Start by relaxing and letting go of your fears. What do you dream of doing? Where will your adventure take you? As a child you probably knew these things and the hardest part is getting in touch with those feelings again. Once you have rediscovered your dreams and found your adventure the difficult part is over. You should now be full of excitement and it is time to quickly transition your adventure into reality. Start by taking an active measure towards your adventure. A good way to start is buying a non-refundable ticket to your destination of choice; this way, there is no backing out.

Think about it: it only takes five minutes to buy an airplane ticket, and once you have it taken care of your anticipation and adventure is all that remains. Do not plan too much, just let the date of departure come closer and allow yourself to become inspired. Adventure often involves doing something on a whim and this is the time to let your imagination take over. Figure out what essentials you need to survive like money and clothes. Other than that, it’s only a matter of boarding your flight and beginning your adventure-filled journey.

How do you get a hotel once you land? Just ask for “hotel” and someone will help you. Feel like having a good dinner? Ask around for recommendations and you shall find what you seek. Adventure travel requires you to be assertive and ready to interact. You will discover that no matter where you go, most of the people you meet will be happy to help you. It is inspiring to most people to see someone travel where their heart takes them, and by helping you they become a part of your adventure too. Best of all, if you stay enthusiastic and optimistic during you adventure you will make some lifelong friends.

Finally, once you return to your old life (unless you make adventure your way of life) you will notice that a new sense of confidence has built up inside of you. This is because you have tried your wings, lived your adventure and know that you can survive wherever life takes you. The reward is a more content existence where the opportunity is more important than the risk.

The Difference Between Online Gaming and Game Consoles

The gaming industry has been very successful in providing the best gaming machines to provide entertainment to people. Today, there are more selections for people who want to experience this particular world. They can consider using their desktop computers or laptops and if they have internet connection, they can consider playing online games. Aside from this, there are also gaming consoles that are still very popular until today.

Some people think that gaming system consoles have already been covered by the online gaming industry. They are often stating that online playoffs are better than these types of consoles. Some people prefer online gaming but there are still a lot of people who prefer playing on their gaming consoles. Here are some of differences between the two gaming/game machines.

Basically, online gaming focuses on playing together with other people around the world. It simply means that you can play and interact with people through these option. Usually, the main goal of these games is to provide entertainment while allowing the users to interact with other players. On the other hand, gaming system consoles do not actually focus on player interaction. Usually, they only allow three to four players to interact with each other on the same place. It is almost not possible to play gaming consoles with people from different places. The main focus of these particular systems is to provide a private entertainment for family. It is a family-oriented gaming machine.

All in all, gaming consoles are also cheaper when compared to gaming online. Basically, in just a few dollars, you can already have your own computer. However, having a computer is not enough. You also need internet connection to access these games. It means that gaming online is more expensive than playing game console options.

Availability is also one of the issues between online and console games. Usually, there will be some glitches, bugs and lags when you are playing online and there are also issues of internet disconnection once in a while that can affect your stategies. Gaming consoles do not have the same issues since you do not need any internet connection to play and you do not connect to an international server unlike gaming online.

Compatibility is also a factor. There are times that computer and online gaming have compatibility issues. There is also system requirements required to play it unlike gamin consoles. The games on different consoles game systems do not require any system requirements as long as it is specifically made for the gaming console that you have.

Loading is also faster on gaming consoles compared to gaming online. Since players of internet games are connected in a single international server, there is a big chance that the loading may be slower because of the huge amount of people trying to play it. Since these types of exciting units do not have the same issues, loading the game is faster.

PC Vs Console Gaming

In the gaming world, there are several options to choose from when it comes to the platform the game is being played on. There are PC games, and there are console games. The difference lies within the way the game is played.

Gaming is literally a lifestyle choice so each person prefers a slightly different approach when it comes to the way they play a game. Some like computer games, because computers allow them to customize the way they play the game along with certain tweaks in visual details and controls.

Consoles don’t demand that you make such tweaks, since they’re built with only games in mind. So when a game comes out and it’s destined for PlayStation, then, if you own such a console, you’re certain you can play that game.

But when a game comes out and it’s made for PCs, then you have to check on what the system requirements that game has in order to be played properly. Since games rely heavily on the specs, or hardware of the “console” they’re run, for PC users this would mean there’s a constant struggle to stay ahead of the gaming developer world and build or purchase the ultimate gaming computer.

In certain cases, it’s a lot easier to escape this struggle by purchasing a console and not having to worry if your system meets the necessary minimum hardware in order to run a game.

The downside to consoles is, in my opinion, the lack of precision in movements and control. For instance, if you were to play a shooter game or FPS for short, it would be really hard to aim at the opponents using a game pad.

On the other hand, when using a computer, it’s really easy to aim using your mouse at the opponents since you can fine tune the mouse sensitivity and actually get the mouse to work at what speed you require.

Some peripherals allow you to adjust that sensitivity right in the gaming environment and those are called gaming peripherals. These are built only with PCs in mind.

Consoles on the other hand have developed in recent years to create a more engaging environment for the player.

We have seen a lot of new advancements in this area from the Wii remote, allowing you to physically “swing” a golf club, or in the Kinect world, actually detecting your body movements to interact in the gaming world. This means that a console user might get a bit more exercise than a regular PC gamer.

Also, there are certain games which might not work on consoles, like strategy games. These games rely heavily on the use of a computer mouse for unit selection and issuing commands.

There are a lot of advantages to PC gaming as well as console gaming, and there are specific games that can be played on both platforms, without the possibility of moving from one type to the other. It’s a matter of level of engagement or immersion that each gamer requires that he get from the game itself.

Modern Trends in Sports Administration and Management

One of the major factors militating against the development of sports in Nigeria today is lack of effective management. A lot of solutions are being proffered by concerned and patriotic Nigerians daily to bail us out the quagmire. One of such solutions is this text entitled “Modern Trends in Sports Administration and Management”. It is written by Dr. Joseph Awoyinfa, a lecturer in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria; a researcher and educational consultant. I was the person invited by the author and the university to review the book when it was presented to the public on December 4, 2008 in Nigeria.

According to Awoyinfa, it is a truism all over the world that sport is now a reference issue which can no longer be ignored at various sectors of the economy and spheres of life. The author adds that this text thus takes a critical look at topical issues in sports administration and management, dwelling on theories and principles of modern trends in sports administration and management such as leadership, organisation, planning, motivation, etc.

The text contains 16 chapters. Chapter one is christened “the concept of sports management”. Here, Awoyinfa says management is a concept that implies different things to different people at different times, thus leading to its multiplicity of definitions. He explains that management has been variously described as an art, a science, a person or people, a discipline and a process.

This author expatiates that as an art, sports management is all about carrying out sports organisational functions and tasks through people; while as a science, sports management is about establishing sports philosophy, laws, theories, principles, processes and practices. As an organisation, according to him, sports management is defined as a means of creating formal structures and an establishment based on a mission, objectives, targets, functions and tasks.

Awoyinfa says as a person or group of people, sports management may refer to the head alone or to all the senior staff, committee, etc.; while as a discipline, management is a field of study with various subjects and topics. The author illuminates that sports management as a process is about a systematic way of doing things. Awoyinfa highlights management functions in sports administration as planning, organising, staffing, directing/leading, controlling, coordination, budgeting and evaluation. On whom a sports manager is, this author educates that a sports manager is anyone at any level of sport organisation who directs
the efforts of other people towards the achievement of organisational goals sport-wise.

Chapter two is based on the subject matter of evolution and trends of sports management thought. Here, Awoyinfa discloses that the development of thoughts on sports management dates back to the days when people first attempted to accomplish goals by working together in a group. In his words, “There was serious thinking and theorising about managing many years before the dawn of the twentieth (20th) century, which marked the beginning of modern sports management thought. Major efforts to develop theories and principles of sports management began from the early twentieth (20th) century with the work of Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol. The industrial revolution of the nineteenth (19th) century probably provided the climate for this very serious theorising.”

Awoyinfa adds that since the turn of the 20th century, writers on sports management and business theory have been propounding different theories about how to manage work and personnel more efficiently and effectively. This author educates that the three main schools of management thought are: the classical; the human-behavioural; and the integrative. Awoyinfa also highlights early sports management theorists; principles and characteristics of scientific management; appraisal of the scientific management theory, etc., in this chapter.

Chapter three is thematically labelled “principles of sports management”. In this chapter, the educational consultant explains that sports principles are the basic laws on which the practice of sports management is built. He adds that management principles must therefore be based on general terms for them to be applicable within sport organisations of varying sizes and character. “Modern sports managers and administrators are expected to be able to identify and use appropriate principles that are relevant to particular situations. This is because no single principle can suit all administrative situations,” submits Awoyinfa.

Society’s Shift From Free Play to Sports

Most of us have seen the movie “The Sandlot” and remember growing up with summers filled with adventure and freedom. I think we all believe that there has been a severe shift from free play to organized sport. Many of us believe that the one of the problems is technology and another is the two extremes of parent involvement (either too involved or lack of involvement). I think that they are not only part of the problem but have a symbiotic relationship in the drive of kids from free play to organized sport or no sport. In fact, I believe that this technophile generation’s technology addiction is a symptom of the lack of parent involvement.

One of the theories of sport sociology is that sport is a reflection of society. We also can agree that sport teaches many things including cultural values, coordination, fitness, competition, how to follow rules, and at times, nationalism and reinforces them through play. As a brief look through the sports sociological portion of the sociocultural domain of sport sciences, I believe that the shift from free play to organized sport is a reflection of our current society and its drive toward the future.

Just as with much of our current condition, we must look back to key points in history that have had immeasurable influence on today. In our time, the two major events is often the Industrial Revolution beginning in 1760 and the Great Depression from October 29, 1929 to the beginning of World War II. The industrial revolution brought about many great achievements to society, which resulted in more jobs. These new jobs allowed individuals to work towards success and truly embody the American Dream of the ability to achieve one’s dreams. From 1840 to the 1920’s, society became technologically advanced and the world became more prosperous than ever before in such a short time. This time period saw the invention and proliferation of the radio and the popularization of organized sport. Professional sports could now be brought into the home. However, with the stock market crash in October of 1929, many businesses failed and many individuals lost their family’s earned savings. People now had to work harder for less. Kids during this time had to make do with what they had and often it was simple. Kids saw their parents work hard and hope for the future. Kids were left to dream and imagine. This resulted in much free play with simple sports equipment like sticks and sandlots and whatever could be scrounged. Kids dreamed of playing “the big leagues” while they worked to help supplement family income. Free play at this time was king as it was simple and could be made up with what was at hand.

The beginning of World War II saw many of these kids being drawn into the conflict in Europe and the Pacific. This was the end of the Great Depression as the world’s industries turned toward national pride and began to support the war efforts against a common goal. Families began to recover from the Depression and began to become affluent again. As time moved on through the war and further into the 20th Century, families realized that another time of hardship could happen and resolved to make sure their children did not have to suffer at the same level again. Thus began the push to develop and train children from an early age to go to college, gain a trade or succeed in sports. At first, the push was simple. However, as time progressed, each child was pushed harder to gain the competitive edge over their peers. Parents were the driving force through their determination to help their children succeed. School became a time consumer that involved time at the school itself and at home with homework. As the competition increased, sport also became part of that edge. Interestingly enough, during this time the world saw the proliferation of the television in homes. Families became affluent, enable them to purchase these luxury items. Sports was now in the home through both mediums of television and radio. This timeframe brought legendary sports heroes like Pele, Muhammed Ali, and Joe Dimaggio into the homes and imagination of the world. The heroes were compared to their predecessors like Babe Ruth and kids began to aspire to be like them.

Jump ahead to the 1980’s and beyond and you will find the beginning of the computer age. Information began to flow into the homes and hands of every individual with a computer, phone and tablet. The world found itself in a new high of affluence. The children who grew up during and shortly after the Great Depression were now the parents. They wanted to be able to give their children what they were unable to have. Often this meant both parents were working outside the home. These working parents now had to find a safe place for their children to be after school until they got home from work. Coupled with the drive for kid’s success, kids were placed in sports programs at school or through an after-school program.

When children were home, it was after a long day at school and afterschool. The parents were too tired to engage with their children and often turned to television to decompress from work. Kids now did not have the time or energy to play outside. When they had time, they would be told to either do homework or practice. When not preparing to succeed in the classroom or field, kids were plied with technology and mimicked their parents by soaking themselves in technology and information exchange.

Benefits of Sports Physiotherapy

Sports are a big part of a nation’s culture and identity. Every country in the world has its own type of sport from the world famous football to the modern day archery. We just can’t eliminate these adrenaline pumping activities since it’s something that unites us in one way or another.

However, sports can lead to different physical injuries that are quite alarming if they are not treated the right way or if they are not given the right and proper medical attention. Extreme physical exertion can be usually seen during sports exhibition as this type of activity requires constant physical effort.

Due to the continuous modernization in the health care field, these unwanted injuries can now be prevented or alleviated through the application of sport physiotherapy. Sport physiotherapy is the application of the principles involved in physiotherapy to different sports. The benefits of sport physiotherapy offer a whole new perspective to the sporting world and some of its benefits includes:

• Improves the body’s durability

The constant application of physiotherapy in athletes improves the ability of the body to handle physical stress. Normally, our body has a unique and efficient way of repairing itself. However, during extreme physical exertions as what happens during sport exhibitions – some of the damage might be too complicated or too big for our body’s normal function to cover.

That’s when sport physiotherapy comes in. The programs involved in sport physiotherapy help the body to improve its durability. It helps strengthen the bones, muscles, joints and small ligaments to withstand pressure thus making it more durable in the long runs. This is quite important especially for athletes who constantly take in blows from direct contact sport like American football, rugby and basketball. By making the body more effective in taking in blows, athletes can have a longer time in the playing field without worrying about some nasty injuries.

• Helps prevents injury

Another benefit of sport physiotherapy is that it dramatically decreases the chance of an individual to get injured during the game. By carefully monitoring a player’s capacity which includes his or her flexibility, coordination, strength, and joint flexion during a regular training session, a physical therapist can formulate some helpful exercise routines to help minimize any sport related injuries like cramps, strains, sprains and torn ligaments.

This specific benefit of sport physiotherapy has already been widely used in the sporting world internationally because of its undeniable importance to world class athletes.

• Improves joint and muscle flexibility

Flexibility is another factor that determines an athlete’s capability. The benefit of sport physiotherapy in this specific field is undoubtedly enormous. If you think only gymnasts requires a flexible and bendable body then you are completely off the scale.

Baseball, boxing, cricket, swimming and almost all types of sports also requires flexibility, although the required amount may differ from each other. Flexibility is very important in the sporting world. Sport physiotherapy enhances the flexibility of an individual so that he or she can perform to his or her optimum level of functioning. Without the proper degree of flexibility an injury may occur while an athlete is swinging his bat or dashing to the end line using breast stroke.

• Improves body relaxation

As far as relaxation is concerned, there is no athlete that wouldn’t want to stop by in a spa to relax after a very tiring day in the gym or field. Luckily, relaxation is another benefit of sport physiotherapy. Everybody needs a good break, even top class athletes.

Sport physiotherapy programs do not only prevent injury or helps someone achieve its full athletic abilities. It also helps these guys to relax a little bit which is quite important for someone who will run, jump and bend over and over again.
